Scott Hanberry BioFamily and Ministry
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, I am the youngest of three children of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Hanberry. I was saved in 1988 and later that same year called to full time pastoral ministry. Since that time, God has led me and my family on an amazing journey of ministry over the past twenty-nine years. I was licensed and ordained by my home church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (South 28th Ave. Baptist Church) and later received a missionary commission from the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention as a church planter. I have been married to Stephanie (Hardy) Hanberry for 29 years. Stephanie graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Elementary Education and has taught in various elementary schools for 15 years. Stephanie now serves as Administrative Assistant at Hardy Street Baptist. We have three daughters, Hannah, Haley, and Heidi... two sons-in-law, Lane (married to Haley) & Caleb (Married to Hannah) and an eight year old boxer named Hudson. Previously, I have served as Senior Pastor of two churches, one of which I was the founding pastor. I have also served in Interim pastorates and in Associate Pastor positions with responsibilities for students, education, and missions... Two unique opportunities I’ve had were serving through denominational positions with LifeWay Christian Resources and the New Orleans Seminary. I graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1987 and hold a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi as well as two degrees from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I received a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Leadership. Missions and Evangelism God has given me a deep passion for missions and evangelism. I’ve had the privilege to travel on mission to fifteen states as well as to Canada, Honduras, Nepal, and Thailand. I have a deep and abiding love for God’s Word and God’s Work. I believe that the Kingdom of God demands our very best and the King deserves it! We must work with all we have been given to faithfully complete the Great Commission in our generation!” Other Activities / Honors A sincere passion for souls has been evident throughout our ministry. While in New Orleans, I helped give birth to the Seminary’s “Mission Lab”, reaching into the inner-city to share the gospel! And while managing the LifeWay Campus Store at NOBTS, I received recognition for ministry efforts as the 2001 Ministry Leadership Award Recipient. Over the past several years, I’ve been privileged to serve as the Associate Pastor for Education at Longview Heights Baptist Church, to teach as an adjunct professor for the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary teaching in the North Mississippi Extension Center at Blue Mountain College and to direct the MidSouth Extension Center for NOBTS. October, 2015, marked a new chapter in our lives and ministry as I became the Senior Pastor of Hardy Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS. I have taught as an Adjunct Instructor at William Carey since 2017.
